J.D. Bowers is Associate Professor of History and Director of the Genocide and Human Rights Institute and Coordinator of Secondary Education in History and Social Studies at Northern Illinois University. His research and teaching focuses on religion, genocide, human rights, and the US in the world with a focus on the Middle East. For two years he has led a study abroad program that focuses on the Cyprus conflict.
