Muhammad al-Faruque is Associate Professor of Library Administration and the Middle Eastern Studies librarian (Asian Library) at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. His research interests include: Islam; history of the Middle East; Muslim culture; and librarianship. He has authored many articles, papers, and book reviews, including contributions to the "Encyclopedia of the Qur’an" (vol. II, 2002).
