Misbahudeen Ahmed-Rufai

Professor Misbahudeen Ahmed-Rufai is currently a Professor of History at Harold Washington College in Chicago. He teaches American, African American and African History, and American Social Issues. He is also an Executive Board Member of the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago, serving more than 400,000 Muslims in the Chicago area. He was Imam/Khateeb at Mosque Maryam in Chicago from 1989 to 2001, guest Imam/Khateeb at Masjid at-Taqwah, Masjid al Farooq, the American Islamic University, all in Chicago. He has the unique experience of working with the Nation of Islam under Minister Louis Farrakhan and the American Muslim Society under Imam Warithudeen Mohammed. He is Imam of the Light of Islam Mosque at 46 East 147th Street, Harvey, IL, where, he can be found every Friday, giving the Khutbah (sermon) and the Tafsir (exegis) of the Qur’an in the month of Ramadan. He also conducts premarital and post marital counseling, marriages, funerals and naming ceremonies for Muslim communities in the Chicago area.
